Dentist
Dr Brendan Tran.
A quadrilingual general dentist with a special interest in dental implants. Brendan speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Teochew — so for many of the families who walk through the door at Austral, being able to explain a treatment plan in their first language makes a real difference.
Brendan’s story
Four languages, one clinical focus
Dr Brendan Tran is a general dentist at Austral Dental Care with a special interest in dental implants. He completed his Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and Graduate Diploma of Dentistry at Griffith University, and has since built his career across south-west Sydney — a part of the city he knows well and where his ability to speak English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Teochew lets him look after patients in the language they are most comfortable in.
Brendan’s clinical focus is implant dentistry. He has completed the LLU/gIDE Master Clinician Program in Implant Dentistry — a one-year postgraduate certificate run in partnership with Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in California, which was the world’s first university-based implant program. The training combines classroom learning, hands-on workshops and live surgery observation. In plain terms, it means Brendan has spent a full year, on top of his dental degree, learning how to plan and place implants — so patients missing teeth can be assessed, treated and restored without having to be referred elsewhere. Alongside implants, he enjoys day-to-day general dentistry and is continuing to grow his skills in orthodontics and children’s dentistry.
Outside the surgery, Brendan’s philosophy is simple: every patient should feel comfortable at the dentist, and he treats that as his job every appointment. When he’s not at the clinic, you’ll find him playing sport, travelling, or spending time with friends and family.
