Why it matters

Putting off the dentist is the most expensive thing you can do

We see it every week — patients who waited because they were busy, nervous, or worried about the cost. The trouble is, small problems rarely stay small. A filling becomes a root canal. Bleeding gums become gum disease. One missing tooth becomes three. The best time to come in was a year ago. The next best time is now.

Small problems grow fast

A cavity that could have been a simple filling last year might need a crown today. Waiting makes treatment more complex and more expensive.

Pain at the worst time

Dental pain never waits for a convenient moment. It hits on holidays, weekends, and the day of a big event.

Confidence you stop wearing

Patients tell us they stopped smiling in photos and started covering their mouths. Your teeth shouldn't be something you hide.

What it looks like to be our patient

A whole-family practice, in your neighbourhood, in your language

At Austral Dental Care we look after multigenerational families — grandparents, parents, and kids — under one roof. Our team speaks seven languages, handles everything from a child's first check-up to complex implant work, and we keep an oral surgeon on-site so you're not sent across Sydney for wisdom teeth or surgical care.

  • Nine clinicians, including an on-site oral surgeon
  • In-house wisdom tooth removal with happy gas
  • Implants planned and placed in-house
  • Seven languages spoken across the team
  • HICAPS + all major health funds, CDBS and DVA welcome
  • No-judgement care for nervous patients and long-gap returners

Your Guide

A dentist who grew up down the road

Dr Elvis Trinh grew up in south-western Sydney. He went to Hurlstone Agricultural Selective High School, trained as a hospital pharmacist at the University of Sydney, then returned to USyd for a second degree — a Doctor of Dental Medicine. After six years practising across Fairfield, Green Valley, Bella Vista and Riverstone, Elvis came home and opened Austral Dental Care in 2023. The same year, Sydney University brought him back to the Faculty of Dentistry as a clinical tutor and lecturer.

Austral Dental Care isn't a chain, and it isn't an investor practice. It's a local practice run by a local dentist who still works shifts as a hospital pharmacist, still teaches the next generation of dentists at his old university, and still picks Austral over every other suburb he could have opened in. That's the team you meet when you walk in.

How it works

Three simple steps

We keep it straightforward because dental care should not feel complicated.

1

Book your visit

Call us or drop in. We'll find a time that works for you and your family — including after-school slots for the kids.

2

Comprehensive assessment

A thorough, gentle examination. We take the time to understand what you need, explain everything in plain English (or your first language), and answer every question.

3

Care at your pace

A clear treatment plan, paced to your priorities and your budget. Nothing rushed, nothing pushed, nothing hidden.

The cost of waiting

Every year you wait, the problem gets bigger

Dental issues do not heal on their own. They grow quietly until they become painful, expensive, or both. The best time to come in is now — and we'll make it as easy and judgement-free as possible.

Common questions

Things patients often ask

Do I need a referral?

No — you can book directly with us. If we need to refer you to a specialist, we'll let you know.

Do you see children, and what age should they start?

Yes, families are the heart of what we do. The RACDS recommends a child's first dental visit by age 1 or within 6 months of their first tooth. We see children of all ages and we take our time.

What languages do you speak?

Between our team we cover English, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Teochew, Arabic and Hindi. When you book, let us know which dentist you'd prefer and we'll match you.

Do you take health fund rebates?

Yes. We're HICAPS-enabled and process your rebate on the spot. We also accept CDBS (Medicare child benefit) and DVA.

I haven't been to the dentist in years. Will you judge me?

Never. We see it all, and we understand that life, cost, and nerves can get in the way. Come in and we'll take it at your pace.
